Porsche has updated the latest version of the iconic 911 significantly. The new 911 Carrera GTS is the first road-legal 911 model with a lightweight, performance-focused hybrid powertrain based on a recently constructed 3.6-liter engine.
With 2.9 seconds to reach its maximum track speed of 194 mph, the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Coupe beats its previous record by 0.3 seconds. The 3.0-liter twin-turbo boxer engine powering the 911 Carrera has also been enhanced, and it will have more power at launch.

New Tech and Transmission
It is identical in size and weight to a typical 12-volt AGM starting battery and is located under the front hood, where the original 12-volt battery was located. It operates at 400 volts and has a gross energy storage capacity of up to 1.9 kWh. To improve weight distribution, a lightweight lithium-ion battery measuring 12 volts is placed beneath the parcel shelf in the back.
The T-Hybrid powertrain’s engine is a newly developed 3.6-liter boxer engine. Because of the high-voltage technology, the compressor in the air conditioning system may be run electronically, doing away with the need for a belt drive and enabling a smaller engine. This allows the pulse inverter and DC-DC converter to be installed in the area above the flat engine.
